The sun FINALLY decided to show its face in the late afternoon/evening. So I decided to go and pick some crabapples from our backyard. The apples looked really red, especially against the green leaves. It made me think of Christmas and made me wish it was winter ...

The apples were surprisingly SOUR. But I like them best that way. MMMM sour things.

New banner

I don't know if it's the most 'me' picture, and I didn't try too hard on making it look nice ... but at least it actually fits the area and it will do for now. I looked through all my pictures and couldn't decide what would work best for this, so I just chose the prettiest picture of me I could find. However, it's just as I thought. I may have to go out and take more pictures of me ... hehehe, yay! I love having and excuse for a photoshoot. Now I just need to come up with something to put in the background and my blog will be prettified to perfection. :)

My dear Fluffy

is not looking so good. (click on smaller pictures to enlarge them.)

My lovely venus fly trap Fluffy is looking a bit unhealthy, I'm guessing because the temperature has been less than five degrees all week and the poor little guy needs hot weather with lots of sun. I've been keeping him in his terrarium as much as possible, and I just gave him lots of distilled water so hopefully he feels a bit better. I don't think I should be too worried about it ... he's probably starting his hibernation early because the cold weather tricked him. He's grown a lot over the summer though, I expect next summer he's going to need a bigger pot! What a good boy Fluffy is <3

When I take a picture from this side he looks a little less rough:

Today I felt like changing my blog around a bit. I'm going to have to come up with a new banner because I am aware that it doesn't fit at all anymore. It didn't even quite fit the last banner but I was too lazy to change it. I just have to choose a picture to put on it ... Something really 'me.' I'll look around my pictures and choose a really good one. Or maybe I will have to take some new pictures for it ... we'll see I guess! I also want to add a background to peek out from either side as well. I'm going to prettify this blog up!

In other news, today hasn't been going so well for me ... my boyfriend left for school yesterday morning and I will only be seeing him three times in the next year. I'm feeling rather lonely without him ... I know that the initial sadness will wear off eventually and I'll get used to a long distance relationship (which I am really scared of ... it's rare that these sorts of things work out). But right now I'm just not feeling particularly well ... and the fact that it is always raining since he left and only two degrees outside doesn't help my mood at all. AND the beautiful necklace he gave me for my birthday which I like to wear everyday broke because clumsy me dropped it and I can't wear it anymore at the moment, until I try and glue it back together ... sigh. I'm sorry for complaining. It's just kind of been a hard week. At least I can work on editting those pictures he took of me the other day ... and working on my blog ... and finishing the New York posts ...

A quick update ...

on the current hair situation. I haven't posted any pictures of me with green for some reason. I dunno, maybe it's because I didn't take that many, because with my roots being as showy as they were it just didn't turn out the way I liked it. But, I changed my hair (again) and went out with Alex to take some pictures in the rain. I plan on editting them sometime, but some of them looked so gorgeous just on their own.

My favourite and his favourite, respectively:

Some of them turned out blurry because of the rain, but I like them.
Anyway Alex leaves tomorrow for school and isn't coming back for a year, so I have go and hang out with him now!

We are a somewhat unlikely couple ...

I'm baaaack ...

Where have I been you ask? Why I have been in New York all week and pretty much I didn't tell anyone. Because I'm cool like that and it's kind of fun to disappear suddenly for a little while. This will be a super long post of my days in Manhattan including pictures. Okay, GO.

At last we have landed in Newark, Jersey and made it to Manhattan, New York, where the Batman is close by. No sign of him yet, but we DID just get here. He has all week to show himself.
Getting all the way here was quite the adventure. In fact, it was just a big ridiculous hassle. On our way to Toronto from home, the windshield of our plane somehow managed to crack and we had to turn around. We ended up landing elsewhere, where it took two-ish hours to transfer everyone on that plane to a new flight. Finally when we landed in Toronto and they switched our tickets to Newark because we ended up missing ours because of the delay, we found that our luggage was missing. We had an hour before our flight and we couldn't get through customs without our baggage checked. So we waited because that's all they told us to do when we asked about it. Ten minutes before our flight departed our baggage was finally found. But there was still customs, which can take about 45 minutes. We waied in line for ten minutes, then a flight attendant came looking for us. He brought us to the front of the line (pissing off so many people who apparently didn't realize what it means if you are still in customs line when your scheduled departure time was five minutes ago). By the time we boarded, it should have left twenty minutes ago. It ended up leaving have an hour later than it was supposed to. Sigh ... I've heard stories about our airline sucking, but I haven't had anything terrible happen until now.
When we landed in Jersey, a limo driver offered to take us to Manhattan where ourpad is REALLY nice and I felt better. Also, of course, our first meal in the States had to be ... McDonald's.

After breakfast this morning we took the underground subway, which became very crowded, to Times Square. We wandered around for a bit, trying to avoid eye contact with the people trying to sell us stuff, then we went into a Ripley's Believe it or Not! museum. It was pretty cool, but a lot of stuff in there seemed to be malfunctioning ... they definitely should have maintained it better. But the part that I found the coolest actually seemed to work just fine, and it was the primitive torture device section. I had a lot of fun in that little bit. Then we also had to take our time at the part called the Black Hole Spacey Hallways or someting like that. You know theo ne where you walk on a bridge and there's black light and the walls spin around you and it's hard to walk thought leaning to one side? Yeah, those are AWESOME.
Then I bought some gorgeous eyelashes from Sephora (which I swear there are at least eleven of in Manhattan), then delicious lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. Then we explored and went on a touristy bus tour around the city. We saw the Empire State Building, Ground Zero, and almost a billion neat looking shops which I must remember to visit.
Then tonight was Wicked!! On Broadway of course. It was fantastic! I LOVED it. I was excited when I noticed that we got the Glinda understudy because in my experiences, the understudy tends to do a much better job than the main. She was exactly like Glinda should be. The costumes in Munchkinland were my favourite though. A lot of detail and they looked really good.
After the show we went to M&M World and checked out the three storeys of delicious goodness. We found some awesome M&M's with PRETZELS in them. I've never seen those in Canada... so we got some of course.

Alright, now I have to try and remember what we did today. Now is the part of summer holidays where all the days are blended into one day and you can't remember what day of the week it is, much less the date. So here goes nothing.
Today we went shopping mostly. I am not used to New York shopping ... it is always extremely busy, and when there ARE fitting rooms they are always full, usually with a line-up. So your best bet is to just guess your size and exchange it or refund it if needed. Luckily, as it turns out, I am a good guesser and I odn't need to return anything that I got today. I got a good striped long sleeved tee that will be good for wearing underneat stuff, a frillly-ish dress, a pretty vintage skirt, some gloves, and nifty tights! OOH and SUCH CUTE SHOES! All for under $100. Oh yeah, that's another thing. Everything is so cheap here, it's ridiculous! I love it!
After shopping we ate at a place called Jon's Pizzeria, where the service was pretty bad but the food was deeeelicious.
Then we went up the Empire State Building which was pretty cool but way less interesting than it sounds. Although it was getting late and it was very neat to see the sun go down and the lights slowly turn on in the city beneath us. Then I ate delicious chicken wings and doughnuts in the restaurant beneath the Empire State, Heartland Brewery. A good end to a very good day :)

The first thing we did today was pick up our tickets for the Lion King. Then we had a bit of time to wander around before the matinee began, so I went and got a gift for my love chunk. I got him a cute little Luigi stuffed doll type thing. Maybe it's a stupid thing to get a full grown man but whatever. He always plas as Luigi when we play Super Smash Bros so he'll hopefully just think it's funny like I did.
Anyway, next was the Lion King, which would have been great except they did the most crazy cool stuff first which got me super excited for the rest of it which consequenstly seemed seriously lacking. But I will say this: Rafiki was fantastic and had a phenomenal voice. And the choral bits were beautiful. I just wish they would have saved the best for last, so I would leave with more positive thoughts.
Afterwards we walked around and did some more shopping. I bought a dress for $5! I love how cheap clothes in New York are :) Of course ... we have yet to visit a Haloween store ... and that is where most of my New York money will probably be spent.

Tonight we went on another sightseeing touristy bus around downtown Manhattan/Brooklyn to look at the city lights.
Anyway, tomorrow we apparently have to wake up early to go to some boat ride to Lady Liberty or something. So I'ma go to bed.

Sunday, August 22, 2010

Today we woke up at 6:00 so we could make it to the ferry to the Statue of Liberty before the whole crowd comes and what not because apparently the line-up to see it fills up the entire Battery Park pretty quickly. So we got there by 9:00 and there was no line at all at that time of day as it turns out so we got our tickets and everything and boarded the boat less than an hour later (there are metal detectors and bag checks everywhere). Shortly after we landed on the island it started pouring like CRAZY. Even if we HAD and umbrella it would have been useless because the wind would have flipped it inside out in to and a half seconds. So we got whatever pictures we wated as fast as we could and headed back on the boat and went to Ellis Island which I thought was much mor interesting. Mom wanted to watch the little half hour movie about the immigrants to America but the intersting thing for me was the museum, especially the old hospital beds from way back in the day. Because they're creepy :)
Alrighty, back in Manhattan we did a bit of walking/shopping, we returned a shirt that Emilee bought that didn't fit her, and we went to Ground Zero, which was just staring at a bunch of construction and was not interesting to any of us in the least. Then since we were all very wet and cold from the rain we went back to the apartment to change. We took the subway there and when we got out it was pouring like crazy and I basically looked like I had just gotten out of the shower by the time we made it to the apartment which was less than a block away. Crazy weather I tell you.
After we had changed and ate lunch and the rain had cleared up, we went back out for some more shopping/walking, then caught ANOTHER little sightseeing touristy bus to look around uptown Manhattan to look at where famour people Bono and John Lennon live/d. I loved looking at the pretty buildings.
I'll finish later, I'm bored.

Firstly ....

Check out these AWESOME TIGHTS that I wore yesterday :D

Secondly, I woke up about half an hour ago (sigh ... too much sleeping in ...) and have been sitting here like this:

for about 15 minutes. In 15 more minutes, I will wash it out. I am very excited for this new hair colour ... yes I am ...

Bad luck spirits are at work ...

It is not even 3:00 and I have definitely been feeling the effects of Friday the 13th. My alarm didn't go off and I slept til 11:00 (I hate sleeping that late, I feel like I'm wasting my day.) Then I had sooo many make-up malfunctions, my eyebrows took FOREVER. I'm afraid that my red contacts may have had it, I'm trying to clean them but they somehow got very dirty and I'm hoping they get fixed. I take good care of my colour contacts, I wish I knew how they managed to get that way :( And I FINALLY managed to get a false eyelash out of my eye. It was in there for like 15 minutes and it just was not working to get it out. Now my eyes are red, and not because of my red colour contacts, which are still sitting in solution that will hopefully get them back to normal. :( Sigh ... there is still hope, perhaps I will carry my good luck laughing skull with me and my day will get better.

Helloooo

I thought I should probably update about my birthday, so I will do that today. First I went and had a bit of sushi with my love chunk. By a bit, I mean only the teeniest bit, because I was still recovering from my sudden flu attack on Thursday. Hmmm, happy birthday, let's spend the day in the bathroom ... hmm ... yes. After that ... well, we didn't have much to do. So we just hung out at his place for a bit, he got me trying out a game called Brutal Legend ...? I think that's what it's called ...? Ah well, I couldn't figure out how to get out of the first room. So I tickled him.

Muahahahahahaha.

Well, he left me to figure out Brutal Legend while he went and picked up my birthday present which he, as usual, left until last minute to do. But he got me awesome stuff, let's see, a pretty necklace, the new KoRn CD (at the moment I forget what it's called ...) and Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I have been meaning to buy for myself but always forgot to. Yay for birthday presents! From my parents I got all my school supplies (oh speaking of which, my transcripts finally came in the mail so I'm going to have to submit those to my school tomorrow I guess) and a fly trap. I forgot my camera at Alex's house because I'm retarded but I will have to post a picture of him. I named him Fluffy ... or at least I call him Fluffy for now, until I can think of something more creative.

We went out to Boston Pizza with all my buddies where I ordered two drinks for the first time using my own ID! I don't like to drink a lot, but I had to order to drinks because the first one turned out to suck and taste like stale water ... but the second one was a cocktail that included Sour Puss and I love Sour Puss so I found it exponentially better than the other drink. Then we all headed to my house to play some games and just hang out for the rest of the evening! It was fun.

Last night was also very much fun for me because my love chunk took me out to a restaurant which I have always heard many good things about but have never been able to try because I was still a little guy. It's called a 'family restaurant' which is strange because as it turns out if you wanted to take your family there to eat, your little sibling will have to wait in the car because there are no minors allowed. Alex and I shared a quasadilla and it was, indeed, delicious. Turns out all the good things about the food were true! What do you know.

It's my birthday. Everyone tell me how awesome I am. B)

UUUUGHHH. Why do I seem to have such bad luck with concerts? First I had rare tickets to see MEATLOAF, and he got sick so no Meatloaf for me. And I found out a couple days ago actually that Lady Gaga was going to be doing a show about four hours from here that I would have loved to see on the 26th. But guess what? It was sold out the first week tickets went on sale, so even if I had known about it earlier, I doubt I would have gotten the chance to snatch some. BUT: there IS a Lady Gaga inspiration fashion show contest thing that I COULD do. If it wasn't tomorrow which is my birthday and I am staying in town for that. I could totally do that though, my style IS inspired by drag queens so I have some pretty outrageous stuff that I could throw together. And probably the fact that I actually LOOK like Lady Gaga would raise my chances at winning ... but NOOO, no Lady Gaga for Blythe :(

P.S. I'm not really sure if I do look that much like Lady Gaga, at work customers have come up to me and said I looked just like Lady Gaga, and when I just go out and about I get strangers saying that as well. Even my sister said she reminded her of me when Lady Gaga was on Ellen a while back ... huh. I definitely have a smaller nose than her...

My hat design in action!

This is the hat that I made a while back for Shay, and she finally got me a picture of her finished ensemble. Hat and stockings are mine ... I am so proud of how she made it work.

Sigh ... I've been wanting to update for a long time but I can't find my camera. I think my sister might have an idea where it is ... I'll look for it today. Geez how do I ALWAYS manage to lose it? I do know that it is DEFINITELY in the house somewhere.

Monday, August 2, 2010

Today we got all ready and packed up the boat and were going to go out to the lake and tube for a while. When we got out there, it was raining! Great, and I had JUST managed to convince Alex to come with us. So we just came back home and ate food and watched movies all day, heheh. We were having a Shamyalan/weird twist movie day ... so we watched The Others, The Sixth Sense, Panic Room, and Shutter Island, all AWESOME movies (go watch them if you haven't, because they are delightful, and don't worry, I won't give away that in Shutter Island it turns out the 67th is ... JUST KIDDING. But that one I thought was really predictable, called it right at the beginning.) Okay now I am so full of food and I am off to BED.
