I survived the year 2010

100th post!! And Happy New Year!!

Last night was a blast!! I worked all day yesterday, kind of a bummer because I of course, was late to the party because I had to go home and fix my hair/make-up/clothing/whatever. I was slightly disappointed because my hair is too short for my dread falls ... which would have been much fun for the evening. Ah well, no sense in being upset about that though! I managed to still look fairly cute, I think. So after work and fixing myself up I went out to Boston Pizza to eat supper with Alex, Torrance, Romer, Shelby, Kayla, Don, and Naomi. By the time we were ready to leave it was already getting a little crowded with New Year's partiers ... we definitely avoided the bars because of said crowds ... not to mention expensive cover charges! Luckily, we instead managed to find a liquor store that was still open and we picked up a couple bottles of goodies, then went to Romer's house to play Little Big Planet and Black Ops. Naomi and Kayla are first-person-shooter virgins, which was good for me, because although I am quite familiar with first-person-shooters, I'm not that good at them ... but I finally had my chance to OWN at Black Ops! Muahahaha. Then I played again against Torrance and failed miserably ... it was fun while it lasted.

The original plan was to go and watch the New Year's fireworks, which usually start at midnight exactly ... so we left to go to them at 11:30. Romer and I decided to roll down the snowy hill for some reason ... we were freezing after that, but I say it was worth it! So after a freezing walk around to the resevoir in the deserted park, breathing in sulfer-smelling smoke-ish stuff, we realized that our small town is waaaay to lame to actually have the fireworks at midnight exactly, and we discovered that they began at 10:00 instead! It was a very pleasant and fun walk anyway ... albeit, chilly ... but that's my own fault and I have no regrets :)

We picked up candy and Space Balls and indulged for the rest of the evening.

This morning I woke up at Alex's house around 10:10, and we remembered we were supposed to be meeting the crowd from last night for breakfast at 10:00 ... we woke up Torrance and he went, but my head was sore from being so tired and I decided to go back to bed, and since Alex is my ever-loyal boyfriend, he stayed home with me and fed me bagels with cream cheese for lunch. The rest of the day was spent being lazy ... I got around to playing the Sims 3 and Epic Mickey for a bit (Christmas presents from Alex and his mom, haha). And now I'm in bed, about to play more Sims ... it's an addictive and guilty pleasure of mine (but I know I'm not the only one out there!) ;)

I took this picture on my way to Boston Pizza ... I'm not sure I managed all that, maybe I used my skills as an alien from another planet ...

Good morning

It is currently ... 4:12 AM and I just got home from WalMart. I finally crossed off the last person on my Christmas list which I checked twice ... but I just know the first thing I think of in the morning is one more person that I missed, and I will have to go out in the horrifying Christmas Eve last-minute rush traffic to find them something they would like out of the few things that are leftover in the stores. Let's hope that doesn't happen ...

I have made some New Year's Resolutions already as well. Maybe they'll give some other people ideas if they haven't thought of any already.

1) I will keep my room clean. (my resolution from last year, which was a TOTAL fail)
2) I will go to the gym at least every other day, to tone up.
3) I will eat healthier. Too much junk means very pimpley face for someone like me :/
4) Quit smoking. (I don't smoke, but maybe someone who does will read this and get the idea. Smoking is a terrible habit, it shortens your life and makes you look old, and your teeth get disgusting! Not to mention the constant lingering smell!!)
5) MAKE A BLOG POST EVERY DAY! I want to start cracking down in the new year. I really started to go downhill in November, and I need to get back on it again. Keeping a journal has actually benefited me in a couple ways, it helps me remember certain anniversaries, keep track of my thoughts, remember ideas, etc. So, even if I have nothing to talk about in my blog for the day, I WILL MAKE SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT. I'm a hairstylist, I can always find SOMETHING to talk about.

Have a very merry Christmas everyone, and a GORGEOUS new year! Good luck on all your resolutions, and be safe, drive sober and carefully!

Waiting for work to start....

Not my usual work though. I'm going to be doing a Christmas craft show thinger ... Here's how the story goes.

A couple years ago my friend's mom was working a booth at the Christmas show, and there was another lady there from out of town who didn't have anyone to help her run her booth (she usually picks up employees when she comes into town). So she asked my friend's mom if she knew anyone who could help her run her booth, and she reccomended me and my friend! So now I have been helping her run all her booths at the craft show each year. Last year, I made $1 500 selling Slap Chops (I got lucky, I just had to sit back and they basically sold themselves. And I'm glad I probably won't be selling them this year, because on the last day of the show I had people coming back and complaining that the Slap Chops they bought from me didn't work, and I don't want to be seen selling them again this year because by now, EVERYONE will know that they are ... pretty much bullshit.)

I'm not sure what I'll be selling yet this year ... but my goal is to make $700-$1 000 doing it (I missed the first day because of school, so there goes at least $500 :/) But $700 in two days would NOT BE SHABBY. So hopefully I can do well again!

Also, my week at school was pretty nuts. On Tuesday, Teena closed the school for the afternoon because everyone was sick (except for me and Amanda, we managed to avoid the cold going around). Then on Wednesday, the pipes were frozen and if we don't have the sinks, we can't do hair! So we had to close it again. As a result, I managed a very productive Thursday.

As for my hair situation ... growing it out will be a very slow process. But I'm figuring out ways to style it, and do my make-up to bring back my old electronic/goth look. I still miss my long hair :( Pretty much the only good thing about the haircut is now it's nice and healthy, rather than how fried it is. The plan is to keep trimming it and bleaching my roots regularly, then it should stay nice and healthy and grow nice and quick (hopefully!)

It's been a looong time.

And quite a bit has changed. The biggest thing, my hair.

Yep, it's short. And yes, I pretty much hate it. You see, a couple Wednesdays ago we were just hanging out and everyone was like, "Blythe, cut your hair. It's way over-processed and has a few chemical cuts anyway, you may as well cut it off." So we looked through a magazine and found a picture that would look really cute on me, and it did look really cute on me. But I hated it anyway. And the way they styled it ... they curled it under so it was like a big circle. I couldn't handle it. I knew it looked cute and my hair was so much healthier, but I hated it anyway. It pretty much changes my whole look, having short hair, and I don't like it that much. Obviously, I'm not going to be mad about it though. I have no choice but to put up with it anyway and I'm cool with that. Anyway, I put up with the circle head for a week, because since I've never had hair cut above my shoulders, I had no idea how else to style it. Then last Wednesday, Amber had the idea that we should put red and black in my hair. Which is odd, because I know she hates colour in my hair ... but maybe she understood that I hated my hair because they created it to look nothing like the rest of my taste and wanted to fix it for me. So that was nice of her :) I like it much better now but still hate it compared to my long hair. I don't regret cutting it at all though, because short hair was always something I've wanted to try and I'm definitely glad that I gave it a chance. But I most likely will not do it again.

Now I want you to take a close look at that picture. Can you tell what is around my neck? I took that picture right after seeing the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, which was AMAZING by the way and I was extremely happy to go with all the other Harry Potter nerds who have been following the books closely like I have since I was 9 years old and waiting for my acceptance letter into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I liked that I went with them for two reasons: 1) I could talk openly about the events of the seventh in the series without having to worry about spoiling anything for the ignorant people who haven't read the books and 2) These people actually wanted to WATCH the film, rather than people for instance in Paranormal Activity 2, where they just go to make fun of the film and are noisy distractions throughout the whole thing ... DRIVE ME NUTS. I definitely reccomend each and every person in the world to watch this film. AFTER reading the books if you haven't. I don't know if many of my blog followers know what a Harry Potter freak I am ... well, now you do.

Around my neck (because I understand it may be a little hard to see) is the Sorting Hat, a Snitch, and the Slytherin House Crest.

I GOT MORE HOLES

Yes, two of them. And the hoops are GINORMOUS so it looks a little silly right now. Once I change them (hopefully on Monday or Tuesday) they will look super cute!

The bird in the chimney

That is to say, birdS.

So I woke up this morning with a fever and therefore was forced to call in sick to work (oh how unfortunate.....) So I went back to bed and was sleeping for a while, then suddenly I heard screaming upstairs. At first it sounded angry, so I thought maybe my mom and sister were getting into a little match, then it turned into scared screams and I thought maybe someone was hurt, then it turned into laughing loudly. Then, quiet. Then, angry screams to scared screams to laughing. Then, quiet again. So I really couldn't figure out what was going on so I decided to pull my achey body out of bed and go upstairs. Mom and Emilee were in the kitchen saying stuff like "Call dad," "What do we do?" etc. And I'm all in my feverish state like, "wut" and they were like "There's birds in the chimney."

And this is where I will switch to their side of the story, as this is now where are stories merge. So I guess our cat Petunia was staring very intensely into the fireplace and they wondered why she was doing that. She would not take her eyes off and they figured maybe she was just looking at her reflection. But she wouldn't move and they couldn't figure out what she was doing so they tried opening the door, and Petunia went inside and batted something around and came out with a mostly dead bird in her mouth, which I must have been disgusting because there were some pretty crazy screams when they discovered it was still living. It wasn't living for long though, because by the time I got up the stairs it was defintely very dead indeed.

So we took the dead bird outside and tossed it in the bushes and then realized there was scratching in the fireplace still. And it was discovered that apart from the dead bird, there was another bird, this one very very much alive. So we got a box and attempted to catch it and failed very miserably, so we just ended up opening all the windows and waited for it to finally fly out of one, which it did. THE END.

Okay, time to tell you about my crazy Halloween.

And by Halloween, I actually mean Saturday the 30th, but that's when I did all my Halloweening. So ... it started with me getting dressed in my zombie gear because I didn't want men to bug me and wanted to be as ugly as possible (it didn't work as planned, unfortunately). Cassie came over dressed as a cute pirate and we had a couple drinks and took some shots then we got picked up by our double D and went to Tanawgis's appartment so that Tanawgis and Sarah could get in their costumes, and we had a couple more drinks, including our double D who was definitely now too drunk to drive. So we got a cab and went out to the big Halloween .... "Fright Night?" I think that's what it was called. Cassie and I made a beeline to the dance floor, of course. And for some reason, Dynamite by Taio Cruz is ALWAYS playing whenever I first walk into a bar/club/party, whatever. ALWAYS that song. So it was no different on Saturday night. I figured that the fact that I was in my ugly poor dead girl garb and the fact that flail more than I dance would keep men off of me, but for some reason there was five or six guys all dressed in identical sailor costumes all were trying to dance with me. It felt like a gang bang so I kind of danced away and more towards Cassie and the others, and I was thinking all night, WHAT'S WITH ALL THESE SAILORS?? It tripped me out. Well, one of those sailors didn't really get the hint when I tried to get away from them, and he wanted to dance with me anyway. So I'm like, what the hell, I can probably get a few free drinks out of this (a friend of mine was bartending and I can trust her not to mix anything "extra" in there). So we danced for a while, and it's weird ... I remember sending Alex one text that said "A sailor just kissed me. I didn't mean for that to happen and I didn't kiss back and I'm sorry." but I definitely don't remember ever getting kissed. Also I apparently sent him more than just that text, I sent him like, five texts apologizing profusely. I didn't feel that drunk, but I guess if I'm forgetting stuff I must have been pretty far gone. Moving on...

So he bought me a rum and coke and we immediately returned to the dance floor (and yes, I did tell him at the beginning that I had a boyfriend and he seemed to think that was alright with him and he just wanted to dance too. Probably not truthful on his part but he didn't seem to be trying anything too funny so I just danced anyway). Once on the dance floor I held my rum and coke over my head so it wouldn't get bumped by anyone and sloshed all over me and I would bring it down and take a sip then put it back up. I did that a couple times, then, I don't know, the fifth or sixth sip I took, I brought it down and it was gone. Just gone, not just the drink, but the cup and everything. So I stopped dancing and just stood there and laughed because I was so confused about where my drink went. That was when Cassie told me to come to the bathroom with her so we went to the bathroom and some girl came out of a stall crying and she ran up to me and hugged me and kept crying and yelling "YOU LOOK SO GOOD! OH MY GOSH YOU LOOK GOOD! (sob sob)"

Then my mom was a party pooper and said it was time to come home and she was waiting to pick me up outside and I'm like, it's only 2!! Then I remembered I had to be up bright and early for work and decided ... yes, it's probably for the best and I may as well take advantage of her offer to drive me home just in case I have no other way.

The end! Very fun night .... I so wish I could have stayed later :(

A quick update before I head out!

Obviously, since it's Halloween and all, I will be partying. I'm off to some huge Halloween bash hosted by a local bar. There's supposed to be 4500 people at it! Dang... I'm a little nervous, being such a petite, cute girl, and this local bar is known for it's date rape horror stories ... but I'll stick close to my friends and I made myself up to look as unattractive as possible.

Everyone have a good time and a safe Halloween! Hopefully I will get around to updating about tonight sometime tomorrow...

Also, I have some good news and bad news... the bad news is, Alex's college was not what he expected and it just didn't work out for him, and he's feeling upset about it ... the good news is he'll be home on Monday! I'm so excited to see him again and at the same time I feel bad that it didn't turn out well all the way across the country, but he's 19. Plenty of time for him to figure wout what he loves and wants to do for a career.

Today was quite fun, we started a new chapter in our textbooks finally and I really should be resting for the exam based on last chapter tomorrow morning, but I should probably also work on THIS. Teena brought out three huge bins of the most disgusting old greasy wigs I've ever seen, and for some reason we all put them on our heads anyway. I took some pictures on my phone but I'm technologically handicapped AND lazy and I don't feel like figuring out how to upload those right now. See? I need my boyfriend to come home and help me figure technological stuff out because me and computers just don't get along at all.

After school I ate supper and then I went to Jackass 3D ... with my ... parents ...... awkward.
You see, unfortunately for me, all my 18+ friends either moved away over the summer or don't do R-rated films or drink or anything ... so I brought my parents. Yaaaaay.
Damn that movie was FUNNY though. I think it may be my favourite. Probably because most of it was funny and less of it was disgusting. I don't do super well with puke and poop and what not (we'll see how I function as a mother, AHHH), and this one had a little bit less of that than the other two Jackass movies. It was the same old mindless shit we all enjoy for some insane reason, only fresh. So it gets my approval.

Holy brown eyes Batman (also that's my Steve-O face)

Ohhh yes... it's probably not noticeable in the picture, I mean, I can hardly notice it myself when I just look, but last week we cut my layers in my hair reeeeally short. I don't really notice it at all, but when I'm styling it, UGH. And it is a BITCH when I have to put it in a ponytail, it falls out all over the place. And that friends, is why Blythe hates layers. They just bug me so much when I have to style them. But ... I had so much split ends and nodules in my hair, so it just kinda had to go. My hair is considerably easy to brush at least ... but UGH, ponytails!

Also I found this picture of me ... I miss having colourful hair :(

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Well, one of my followers was kind enough to point out that I'm pretty much failing about the one post a day thing already so I decided to make a quick update.

I think my goal is at least one a week for now, because lately I've been busy busy with ... I don't know, I've just been busy. Maybe not busy. Maybe just distracted? I don't know, I've been making a lot of plans, and since I have to wake up at 6:30 every morning I kind of get home around 11:00 and go straight to bed. Ooh, I know ... I'll update one weekends. I have plenty of free time then, after I work. So ... yes, I suppose that is what I will do. But I really should talk about yesterday ...

So we have our instructor, Megan and our other instructor who also owns the academy, Teena. Usually Megan is at the school in the morning and Teena comes later in the day after dropping her daughter off at daycare. These past few weeks though, Megan has been deciding to only come pretty much every second day which means that Teena has to bring her daughter with her to the school, which doesn't exactly go well...

On the weekend Teena had to be out of town and was planning on travelling home on Monday morning to get back to school in the afternoon. So she was counting on Megan to actually be there so that, you know, we could learn stuff. But, Megan bailed at 7:10 yesterday when school started at 8:00, and luckily Teena was able to get ahold of everyone to let them know that school couldn't start until the afternoon. It sounds like Teena hasn't been able to get ahold of Megan since, so it's looking like Teena will have to bring her daughter with her to school daily for now. Teena doesn't talk about it, but it's definitely sounding like this is the last straw for Megan. Megan's a really nice girl, but she didn't take her job seriously at all and wasn't challenging us or even grading us properly, and frankly I'm kind of surprised Teena let it go on for so long. So we had class with Teena this morning, and I really did like it a lot better. I actually learned how to do pincurls PROPERLY. I'm thinking school might get a little more ligit now. I mean, it may be welfare, but in the end I'm getting the same license as I would at any cosmetology school so I definitely want to have the confidence that I'm doing it right and getting the grades I deserve.

Alrighty. Here I go. Making a post EVERY DAY. Starting today.

Even though today wasn't super interesting.

So it started when I woke up and went to work. The only thing there is to say about work was it was very very busy and there was glitter EVERYWHERE. But I'm not complaining, sparkles and glitter are my two favourite things on earth. Why was there glitter everywhere then? Well, we started getting in our Christmas stock ... which means sparkly, shiny decorations. The warehouse is looking pretty pimpin with all the pretty glitter everywhere.

Afterwards I went to Sarah's birthday party (her birthday was on the 7th, but she waited til today to have her party for some reason. Pff, crazy girl). She turned 18 ... but she's pretty conservative? not sure what word I should use for that ... so there was no alcohol to be found. No bars. No lottery tickets. No fun stuff that you can do when you're eighteen. Even if she did want it, she has no ID ... but no problem! We had fun anyway, playing "Italian Twister" and "four on a couch." Unfortunately, halfway through four on a couch I nearly died. I for reals thought that it was the end of me. I suddenly got these two HUGE cramps on both sides of my lower belly area and it BURNED. I could barely move but I wanted to just leave and lie down so I thought it would be an okay idea to walk home. It grew steadily worse though and eventually I was just heaved over in pain and Lana, who kindly offered to walk me home, picked me up and carried me the rest of the way. And when we got home, I went straight to my bed and I am still here, in my bed. I laid in the exact same position for an hour because it made my stomach hurt less, and eventually the pain went away enough that I decided it was okay to stand up again. But it wasn't. But at least it didn't hurt as much the second time.

Now it only hurts a little bit if I bounce around too much. It's definitely feeling better than it was. I'm not sure what it could have been that made me hurt SO TERRIBLY, but I'm glad it's over. I was seriously considering making a trip to the ER which would NOT have made this a fun night. It was certainly an interesting night, that's for sure. But it's 2:00 in the morning and I never though I would say this but the reason I'm still up is because i need to harvest my crops on Farmville. It's Lana's fault I'm all of a sudden into this. I don't know how she convinced me to start playing it. But it's sucked me in. AAAARRRRGGGH.

I'm bad.

I've been sooo terrible at updating lately. Probably the worst I've ever been. So I will tell you really quickly about my Thanksgiving and then tomorrow I will start updating EVERY DAY. For reals this time.

So, Thanksgiving was in a word, delicious. I got so stuffed with turkey on Sunday ... then I went clubbing. Because that is how we do it.

Really though, my cousin Brett is a drummer who works with a DJ known as DJ Kav. And due to some past drama, I have never met Brett as far as I know. I'm told I have before though, twice, but since I was too young to remember it, I consider this to be the first time we've met. Finally, someone in my family who I belong to! I was so positive that I was the only one in my entire Mennonite family who enjoyed dancing and loud music and lights and ... well, club life in general. But then I met Brett, and he's been working with a legit DJ for three years and is hired by various clubs all over the province. AND he's coming here soon! Sometime in the next few months. I am excited out of my mind because all my friends can see how cool my cousin is!! Heheheh.

If you're interested, they are known as drumndj and you can check them out here.

My blah week ... briefly ...

Here I am after yet another loooooong week. I am so tired; I haven't been sleeping well at all. Well, it's not that I haven't been sleeping well, it's just that I get so distracted. And I don't mean by the Internet like most insomniacs (or so it seems), but by phone calls from people just needing someone to talk to late into the night, mostly from my darling Alex ... but I'm not complaining about him keeping me up. Talking to him is worth it. :)

Anyway, Monday we got out kits. Teena told us that our curling irons were on back order and that worried me that they would take forEVER but they arrived in good time, at the beginning of our third week. Not too bad at all. Moving everything from the case to the trolley was hard work though ... well, not so much the moving as the cleaning out of the trolley from whoever had it before me... it was disgusting! One drawer was full of hair, the other seemed to have haircolour spilled all over in it, and another was stuffed full of end papers, and it took me so much longer than my other three classmates to finally complete the tasks. Ugh. I am going to be sure and be nice to whoever comes to the school after me, and clean out my trolley properly.

Tuesday, we learned roller sets, which is probably one of our favourites so far. It's almost as easy as braiding, only it doesn't hurt your hands. And it's easier than finger waves and your hands don't get all greasy! Yay roller sets! ... but after the sets are out you have to tease the hair and make it big and smooth it out and blah blah blah, takes forever and it's so hard to get it perfect for the picky instructor ... though I guess it's good she's picky, because even though roller set are from a billion years ago, we gotta learn them properly anyway. Oh well.

Wednesday: We got our booklets and now we aren't doing heads and heads and heads of roller sets, braids and finger waves for nothing! Yay for actually getting marked!!

Today: was rough. Grrrr ... I was so tired this morning because like I said, no sleep at all. I got to bed at about 1:30 every night, fell asleep around 2. So I wasn't really up for drawing my eyebrows so I didn't bother. I think I look really pretty without them anyway. So I went to school and Amber saw me and said really loudly "EWWW you look ILL!" and basically that was a flamethrower to my confidence's face. I mean really ... I thought I looked nice and even still ... no one likes to be told they look ill when they were less or no makeup. I mean I think I looked a bit like a martian or something but that's part of why I like it ... but not ill ... or ugly ... well, after that little incident she wanted to style my hair, so she did and she didn't really do a great job ... she tried to curl it and got one side really good and the other stayed pretty straight and she used SO MUCH HAIRSPRAY and her hairspray STINKS. So I had a lopsided, smelly hairstyle and the side that was curly kept getting in my face so I put it up in a ponytail, again, I thought it was really cute, and Amber was all offended and what not and I'm like ... well I'm offended when you tell me I look ill so YOU can suck it up. It drives me crazy sometimes when people are so insensitive and can dish it out but can't take it. Honestly, some of the girls at my school (well MOST of the girls at my school) just drive me INSANE!

Anyway I went shopping today and three cute tops and some awesome socks with jolly rogers on them so I can show everyone how much of a pirate I am =) Because the people don't believe me that I am a pirate and make fun of me when I tell them I am. Jerks.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

My classmates rudely commented on the fact that my hair looks much better blonde and I should never dye it pink again. So I didn't.

They are going to hate me even more.
